About Ainsley Finn

Ainsley Finn: Pianist, Teacher, Composer I began learning piano when I was four years old. I studied through the Yamaha Music Foundation under Robyn St George and John Corlett. During my time at Yamaha, I predominately studied classical music and composition, studying classical through the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) exam system.

At some point during my time studying at Yamaha, I was introduced to some great jazz recordings. The idea of learning how to play jazz piano interested me, so I studied jazz piano at NMIT under Anthony Schulz. In 2004 I was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts and completed my Bachelor of Performing Arts (improvisation) in 2006. While at the Victorian College of the Arts I studied under Dr. Tim Stevens and Andrea Keller.

During and since the completion of my study, I have recorded on numerous recordings, performed at venues and functions all around Victoria and toured Australian East Coast twice with swing band Frankie Wants Out.

My experience in playing all styles of music from classical to jazz to pop has helped me as a performer and a teacher.

If you are interested in booking me for a gig, I am available for anything from piano bar (jazz) music to larger bands (eg. vocals, bass, drums, saxophone, guitar). To hear some sample recordings of me, check out my Music & Videos section.

If you are interested in piano lessons from me, I conduct my piano lessons in Melbourne, Northcote and can teach a wide variety of music to students of all ages. Check out my Piano Lessons section for more information on piano lessons, my teaching experience, styles ect.
